Help promote contents, 15 influencers appointed to make Selangor Freelance a success

SHAH ALAM, Feb 25 — A total of 15 social media influencers will help publish content on social media to make Selangor Freelance part-time employment programme a success.

Implemented by Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB), the 2021 Budget initiative was accelerated under the Kita Selangor Package to absorb the negative effects of the economic slowdown due to Covid-19.

In the progress report of the 20 initiatives of the package, the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) informed that a company has been appointed to implement phase one of the programme.

With an allocation of RM10 million, PNSB is also evaluating cooperation proposals from several technology partners registered with the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

Apart from Selangor Freelance, the state government subsidiary is also tasked with running the programme to promote the latest telecommunication technology — the Selangor Digital Partner (RDS) initiative — with an allocation of RM3 million.

According to UPEN, the company is developing a website, preparing marketing materials and determining the location of RDS.

Through this programme, 1,000 appointed individuals will guide, especially rural folks in using digital applications in their daily life for education and part-time work.

To manage the current development of Covid-19 cases, the state government has developed the Smart Selangor C5i Operation Center (SSOC) and the Smart Selangor Center of Excellence (CoE2) at a total cost of RM7.5 million.

UPEN also explained that SSOC was tasked with monitoring the implementation progress of the Kita Selangor Package, which bring a financial impact of RM73.9 million as announced on January 20.

The State Disaster Management Unit and the Corporate Division of the State Secretary started their operations at SSOC on February 1.

This initiative also benefits the Selangor Covid-19 Special Task Force Operation (STFO) and the agency in charge of the implementation of the smart state project, the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU).

In addition, STFO also started operating in CoE2 on February 8.
