M-League clubs can hold friendlies from Feb 15 — MFL

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 Feb — The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has agreed to allow the Malaysia League (M-League) teams to start holding friendly matches beginning Monday (February 15), but in accordance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the government.

MFL chief executive officer Datuk Ab Ghani Hasan said the teams would also have to cooperate with the police for the purpose of interstate movement.

The government had earlier decided to allow all centralised training programmes for teams competing in the M-League, Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) and Sepak Takraw League (STL) to resume on Monday (February 15).

Meanwhile, Ab Ghani said the MFL, in collaboration with the National Sports Council (NSC), briefed the teams on the SOP with regard to camp quarantine and home quarantine via an online meeting yesterday.

“The teams were told in more detail regarding the centralised training programmes, that will begin on Monday, the training venues and the movement of the players in accordance with the sports bubble model as well as about camp quarantine and home quarantine,” he said in a statement today.

The statement said that camp quarantine means the full-time accommodation for the players and officials at one place and that they are also required to undergo swab test at the stipulated venue. Home quarantine, meanwhile, means players and their families will be required to undergo swab tests as well as stricter SOP, including a ban on outsiders visiting them throughout their quarantine period.

The M-League is set to kick off on March 5.
