Malaysia Airlines bags two awards at Putra Brand Awards 2020

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 — Malaysia Airlines Bhd was accorded the Putra Brand Icon for 2020 and the Platinum Award for Transportation, Travel & Tourism category at the Putra Brand Awards 2020 on Friday.

In a statement today, the airline said it has won the Transportation, Travel & Tourism Category award for five consecutive years since 2016 and the latest winning has validated its position as the most trusted brand in travel across the region, offering top-notch service and customer experience to all.

It said the special Putra Brand Icon Awards are given to brands that have consistently delivered excellence by winning Gold in their respective categories four years in a row.

Group chief executive officer Captain Izham Ismail said the awards mark a special cord this year, following a challenging 2020 in which the travel industry went through unprecedented change and innovation in the face of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic.

“This win signifies and cements our stance in ensuring we place our customers as our centre of gravity in all of our decision-making, creating and paving the way for us to providing our customers with a premium, personal experience without compromising their safety.

“The airline will continue to provide our customers with vital connectivity during these turbulent times while ensuring we do everything to ensure safe travel for them in line with our Fly Confidently campaign,” he said.

Malaysia Airlines launched the Fly Confidently campaign to raise awareness on its enhanced health and safety measures to connect with customers and restore their confidence in air travel, he said, adding that in contrast, the airline continues to provide customers with a premium and personal experience.

He added that the airline also has played an active role in supporting the local community through charitable donations, including donating blankets and meals to medical frontliners at the KLIA and ferrying personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies through MABKargo and MASwings.

To date, the airline has operated more than 200 repatriation flights to bring its customers safely back home to their loved ones.

Besides winning the 2020 Putra Brand Awards, Malaysia Airline was also recently recognised at the HR Excellence Awards, receiving two gold awards for HR Leader of the Year and Excellence in Workplace Culture, as well as landing a silver award for Excellence in Digital Transformation.

Malaysia Airlines also received a 4-star rating from Skytrax and a 7-star COVID-19 compliance rating from AirlineRatings.com.
