MBM forms special committee to realise new youth development model

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 Feb — The Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) is setting up a special working committee to help realise the agenda of the New Youth Development Model which is designed to complement the existing 2015-2035 Malaysian Youth Policy.

Its president, Jufitri Joha said the new model, which is also based on the Shared Prosperity Vision and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), is a new strategy and approach to address the needs and aspirations of youths in this pandemic era.

“MBM is committed to playing a more efficient role and with full accountability, as advised by Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, during an online dialogue session with MBM’s supreme council members last February 4,” he said in a statement today.

The Youth and Sports Ministry, on February 4, announced a RM1 million administrative funding for  MBM and each of the national youth associations under its auspices.

The New Youth Development Model is designed by the Youth and Sports Ministry to enable the existing Youth Policy to be strengthened and streamlined with an agenda that touches on the country’s direction, new opportunities for youths in a new economic and technological environment, as well as the formation of youth-driven communities.
