MCO: 19 premises compounded for flouting SOP — Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 — A total of 19 premises were compounded yesterday for flouting the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the movement control order (MCO), said Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said this was done through a special inspection on SOP compliance on 1,330 business premises by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) enforcement officers.

“Of the total, 1,293 of them complied with the SOP, 12 were advised, six were warned and 19 compounded,” he said in a statement on MCO development today.

Meanwhile, he said 643 individuals were arrested for flouting the MCO yesterday and, of the total, 623 of them were compounded while 20 were remanded. 

“Among the offences are not wearing face masks (144), unauthorised interdistrict/interstate travel (112), no physical distancing (133), failure to provide equipment for recording of customers’ particulars (112), premises operating beyond permitted hours/without permission (34), leaving home without valid reasons (42) and others (66),” he said.

On Op Benteng, he said 14 illegal immigrants were detained and five land vehicles seized yesterday.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said a total of 8,717 foreign workers underwent screening tests yesterday and, of the total, 299 of them tested positive for Covid-19.

He said that since December 1 last year, a total of 305,620 foreign workers, involving 13,202 employers, have been screened, with 6,028 testing positive.

He also said that since July 24 last year, 117,449 individuals had returned home and all of them had undergone compulsory quarantine.
