MCO: Over RM260,000 spent on food aid for residents around Bandar Baru Klang

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Feb 3 — More than RM260,000 were allocated to supply food aid for poor families around the Bandar Baru Klang area throughout the movement control order (MCO) period.

Its assemblyman Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the aid was distributed in stages starting from last year and involved residents living in the apartment and village areas.

“From March to December last year, a total of RM200,000 were spent to prepare the food items, while this year, more than RM60,000 were used to assist 2,000 families affected by the MCO,” Teng told SelangorKini yesterday.

He explained that contribution in the form of food supplies was chosen to ensure that the residents’ supply is not disrupted during the MCO.

“We make sure that the welfare of the residents is taken care of. The contribution is to lighten their burden and they can use their money for other purposes,” Teng said.
