Selangor FC launches 2021 home jersey inspired by SuperMokh, 1986 squad

SHAH ALAM, Feb 2 — Selangor FC launched the 2021 season home jersey inspired by national football legend, the late Mokhtar Dahari or better known as SuperMokh.

Selangor FC said in a statement that the jersey contained an element of Mokhtar’s legacy, inspired by the jersey he wore only once when The Red Giants won the 27th Malaysia Cup in 1986.

The 2021 home jersey retained several important elements of 1986,  including the red, yellow and green scheme lifted from the Selangor Raja Muda’s flag, as a tribute to Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who was the Raja Muda at the time. Also included is a special SuperMokh symbol at the back of the jersey to honour the player.

Although the jersey is retro-themed, several modern elements are incorporated, including a flower motif representing the state’s official flower, the Tanjung flower, placed on the yellow part of the jersey.

In addition, the chest area will be emblazoned with a ‘quarterfly’ red-yellow flag, with a ribbon reading ‘85 Years Creating A Legacy’ embroidered at the back of the collar to commemorate the establishment of the Selangor FC team.

“The Selangor FC management also decided to be different this year by choosing yellow as the home jersey’s main colour after not being used for so long.

“Selangor FC hopes that the 2021 home jersey inspired by Mokhtar Dahari and the 1986 Selangor team will inspire the Selangor team and officials to do their best in their quest for glory this year,” the statement read.
