Two Covid-19 patients held for stealing mobile phones at MAEPS PKRC

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 11 — Police arrested two patients at the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) for allegedly stealing four mobile phones belonging to other patients yesterday.

Sepang Police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said in the 10.30pm incident, a 34-year-old medical officer on duty at Hall C had activated the emergency orange code and sought police assistance after the two men, aged 24 and 40, were detained by other patients.

Both the suspects had been transferred to another hall for security measures and police will make the arrests after their quarantine period ends, he said in a statement here today.

The 40-year-old suspect is expected to be released from quarantine at MAEPS today while the other suspect is scheduled to be released tomorrow, he said.

Wan Kamarul Azran said the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code.

“Police had confiscated four stolen mobile phones and have taken their details for further action,” he added.
