Community screening at campuses to start after Raya celebrations — Selcare

AMPANG, March 29 — The Covid-19 community screenings at higher learning institutions in Selangor is expected to be held after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Selcare Clinic manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said the free screening using the rapid antigen test kit (RTK-Ag) method targets Selangor students in both public and private colleges and universities.

“We plan to carry out the operation after fasting (Ramadan). However, this matter is still under discussion because we need to review how to approach the institutions.

“Currently, we have yet to identify the relevant institutions. The implementation date will be finalised after the discussions held,” said Mohd Noor said when met at the free Covid-19 community screening programme organised by the state government at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council Multipurpose Hall, in Kampung Pandan, here yesterday.

He said the agency will also take into account the number of students to take part in the programme with the set allocation.

“Therefore, the students should not waste this opportunity and should also inform their peers to go for the screening,” he said.

On January 20, the state government has set aside RM6 million under the Kita Selangor Package to carry out the free Covid-19 community screening initiative throughout the state to curb the coronavirus outbreak.

The initiative targets the participation of 50,000 people in Selangor, focusing on targetted groups such as senior citizens, low-income households, and students.
