Exco: Halal expos across Selangor to start in May

By Nadiah Zamlus

SHAH ALAM, March 18 — Selangor plans to hold halal expos at its nine districts starting May, says state executive councillor for halal industry Zawawi Ahmad Mughni.

He said the programme is to promote halal products produced by entrepreneurs in the state to the local market.

“At the same time, we also plan to organise an international halal exhibition in October, but these programmes would depend on the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he told SelangorKini.

Zawawi Ahmad, who is also the state executive councillor for consumer affairs, said an international webinar will also be held to drive Selangor’s halal products to a wider market.

“Programmes such as expos, campaigns or online seminars can increase the awareness of entrepreneurs and consumers on halal products.

“This awareness can also ensure that more entrepreneurs strive to obtain halal certification,” he said.
