Hijrah Selangor channelled RM554.54 mln in loans to SMEs — MB

SHAH ALAM, March 30 — Hijrah Selangor has channelled RM554.54 million through 70,752 loans to small and medium enterprises (SME) in Selangor since its establishment six years ago.

Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor state government allocated RM30 million this year for programmes under Hijrah Selangor that included the microcredit financing scheme, zero to hero financing scheme and new financing schemes such as Go Digital and Darul Ehsan business scheme (NaDI).

“For six years since its establishment, Hijrah Selangor Foundation has benefited  57,211 entrepreneurs through its programmes.

“Hopefully, the new financing schemes, NaDi and Go Digital would help entrepreneurs affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to bounce back, as well as increase the number of entrepreneurs under Hijrah Selangor,” he told reporters yesterday, in conjunction with the foundation’s 6th anniversary.

As to whether the RM30 million allocation for the foundation would be increased next year, Amirudin said it depended on the proposals and programmes requested as well as the decision of Hijrah Selangor’s management.

He said the encouraging response for Hijrah Selangor attests to its capability as a loan and support unit that can generate income for the community.
