Kampung Tunku to help 100 small businesses go digital

By Sherilyn Pang

PETALING JAYA, March 10 — The Kampung Tunku constituency is helping 100 micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses go digital and accelerate the growth of their businesses online.

Its state assemblyman Lim Yi Wei said the Kg Tunku Digital Micro-Entrepreneurs Initiative, in collaboration with e-commerce platform Yezza and network consolidation programme Stack, which was developed by the Paper + Toast coworking space, will be sponsored with a total value of RM11,100.

Lim said in conjunction with the recent International Women’s Day on Monday, 38 slots will be open to female applicants in March.

“The 38 slots for this month will be open for women entrepreneurs or women-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) living or operating in Petaling Jaya.

“We will also be sponsoring 100 Yezza Personal accounts for three months. After the three-month period, participants will have a choice of continuing with the platform,” said Lim during a press conference after launching the initiative at the Awegallery in Section 20, here today.

Lim said Yezza will provide the participants with a discounted rate of RM50 instead of RM97 for its digital academy, which includes classes and digital business tips.

“Although the programme is initiated by Kampung Tunku, we still welcome applicants from other areas including Bandar Utama, Seri Setia, Taman Medan, Bukit Gasing, Kota Damansara and Bukit Lanjan, among others.

“We want to see how it works first in Petaling Jaya. Then, we will see how we can scale it and hopefully bring Stack and Yezza to the state-level ecosystem to add value to its vision of developing a smart state,” said Lim, adding that the next phase of the remaining 62 spots will be announced in April.

Those interested in the Kg Tunku Digital Micro-Entrepreneurs Initiative can submit their applications at https://adunkgtunku.yzza.io/dme by March 17.
