Married couple nabbed for robbery incident in Kuang

KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — The police arrested a married local couple on suspicion of being involved in a robbery in Kuang near here on Tuesday.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Shafa’aton Abu Bakar said the suspects, aged 27 and 36, were arrested after police followed their vehicle from Tasik Biru Kundang to Lorong Setia 4, Kuang at around 5 pm.

She said the incident happened after a police team under Op Rentap Haslim tracked both the suspects in a car at a parking lot in Tasik Biru and ordered them out of their vehicle.

“The suspects then acted aggressively by driving recklessly and a police personnel was injured in the leg after being rammed by the suspects’ car.

“The police fired a few shots at the car tyres causing the vehicle to veer off the road at a junction,” she said in a statement yesterday.

Shafa’aton said police found a backpack containing a parang, black gloves, cutters and a spanner.

“The male suspect, a former member of the Haslim group admitted to being involved in 13 robberies in Sungai Buloh district, in addition to possessing eight previous criminal records related to drug and other criminal offences,” she said, adding that the case would be investigated under Sections 307 and 395 of the Penal Code.
