MB: 39 positive Covid-19 cases detected during free weekend screening

SHAH ALAM, March 1 — The Selangor government has detected 39 Covid-19 positive cases within two days of its free community screening last weekend.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the targeted screening in Puchong, Klang and Shah Alam involved more than 1,000 individuals.

“Through the Covid-19 testing organised by the state government last Saturday and Sunday at four different locations, a total of 1,283 individuals had come forward to do the screening.

“Of the total, 39 individuals tested positive. The free testing will continue this week,” he said on Facebook.

Yesterday, the programme was conducted at the Subang Jaya City Council (MPSJ) Hall in Taman Puchong Indah which targeted residents from around Kampung Sri Langkas, Taman Dahlia, Taman Puchong Perdana, Puchong Permata 2 and Kampung Seri Andalas.

On Sunday, the screening was held at the Pendamar Indah 2 Multipurpose Hall, Port Klang and the Kenanga Hall, Section 28, Shah Alam.

Prior to this, the programme was carried out at the Section 19 and and Section 7 Halls in Shah Alam; Pandamaran Jaya Multipurpose Hall, Klang; PJS 6 Community Hall, Petaling Jaya; and the Sungai Besar Stadium, Sabak Bernam.

Through the Kita Selangor Package, the Selangor government has allocated RM6 million to ensure the success of the targeted Covid-19 testing (in the state) to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The programme is expected to benefit 50,000 people with priority given to targeted groups such as senior citizens especially in old folks’ homes and haemodialysis centres statewide including the lower-income group of the society as well as students.
