MB awards RM40,000 education fund to top accounting student

GOMBAK, March 10 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has presented an education fund to an accounting student in the state who ranked second best in the world for the Maintaining Financial Records (FA2) examination.

Amirudin said the RM40,000 sponsorship by the Yayasan Selangor would enable the final semester student of the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT), Putera Aiman ​​Abdul Rashid, 19, to further his studies.

“We are proud when children of Selangor receive world recognition and would provide the support as we would want to see Aiman ​​to continue his ambitions.

“This success proves that the children of Selangor and Malaysia are able to compete on a global scale,” he said after handing over the contribution at Putera Aiman’s ​​family home in Sungai Tua, here yesterday.

He said Selangor is committed to strengthening education, which is the benchmark towards becoming a smart state by 2025.

“Apart from the Yayasan Selangor’s funding for furthering studies in the country, we also offer the Selangor Bitara Programme specifically for Selangor citizens to pursue Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) studies at leading universities abroad,” he said.

Meanwhile, Putera Aiman ​​was moved to have received the award, which was presented by the Menteri Besar himself.

“This achievement proves that anyone can succeed if they work hard. There should be no perception that only full boarding school students can succeed, as day school students can do it too,” he said.

On February 5, the media reported that two students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Faculty of Accounting were listed among the top 10 in the world in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and CAT professional qualification examinations.

UiTM informed that semester five students of the ACCA program got first place in Malaysia and ninth in the world for the Audit and Assurance (AA) examination while Putera Aiman ​​got first in Malaysia and second place in the world for the FA2 examination.
