Nafas allocates RM580,000 for back to school programme

SABAK BERNAM, March 13 — The National Farmers Organisation (Nafas) has allocated a total of RM580,000 for its Back to School programme this year.

Its board member Datuk Dr Abd Rahman Bakri said the programme, part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, targeted 5,800 children of area farmers’ organisation (PPK) members nationwide and will be carried out in stages.

“There are 297 PPK nationwide and each recipient will receive assistance worth RM100 either in cash or school supplies according to the circumstances and needs.

“It is hoped that this programme will ease the burden of parents and guardians, especially in facing the current Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after presenting the contributions at the Nafas Back to School programme at the Sungai Tawar state constituency here today.

Also present was Sungai Tawar assemblyman Datuk Rizam Ismail.

For todays’ event, a total of 400 recipients in the Sungai Tawar state constituency received the contribution, while the remaining would be distributed to Sabak state constituency tomorrow.

Abd Rahman, who is also Selangor Nafas board chairman, said to date, a total of 30,000 children of PPK members nationwide benefited from the programme since it was introduced five years ago.

He added that Nafas also contributed special Covid-19 assistance amounting to RM5,000 to each PPK nationwide.
