SHAH ALAM, March 25 — Over 83 per cent of recipients under the first phase of vaccination in Selangor have received their first dose, said Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari.

He said most of them were frontliners while about 4,000 more have yet to receive their first dose in the first phase of the state’s National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, which is expected to be completed in April.

“After this phase is complete, the focus will be on the preparation for the second and third stages involving the registration and logistics aspects, especially at the vaccination centres.

“It will be managed by district administration authorities and state-level officials,” he said at a joint press conference with the Coordinating Minister of the national vaccination programme Khairy Jamaluddin, here today.

Amirudin said the state government would also expedite the vaccination of individuals in the industrial sector as the state is the development centre and the main economic driver for the country.

“We must recover as soon as possible to enable the industry to operate at full capacity. We will try to speed up what we can to overcome the spread,” he said.

Based on data shared by the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) on Facebook today, as of March 24, a total of 57,368 vaccines were given in Selangor with 55,336 for the first dose and 2,032 for the second dose.

This figure involves 36,248 Health Ministry (MOH) employees while the rest consisted of non-MOH staff as well as the private sector.
