SHAH ALAM, March 18 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has installed plastic barriers on the divider of Jalan Saujana Impian in Kajang while pending the ownership status of the route.

Its Public Relations officer Kamarul Izlan Sulaiman said the 160-metre-long installation is a short-term measure following complaints from users regarding the road safety condition.

“The horizontal bar lines on the road are also painted using hot-applied thermoplastic to slow down the speed of vehicles.

“Therefore, road users are advised to be careful when using the route,” he told SelangorKini.

The ownership status of the road, which is one of the road accidents hotspots, has not been decided and is currently being discussed with the Public Works Department and the Malaysian Highway Authority.

Residents had previously claimed that the road had dangerous corners that could lead to accidents

However, the MPKj does not have the power to change the alignment of the route.

In a March 8 incident, a couple died after the car they were travelling in collided with a van at the said location.

Remyzan Baharuddin, 42, and his wife, Suzyla Ahmad Dahlan, 40, were pronounced dead at the scene when the car collided with a van from the opposite direction, which lost control before crashing into a road divider and entering their path.

The victim’s two children, Raiha Syuhaida Remyzan, 13, and Ra’if Adam Lutfan Remyzan, 7, were injured in the head and received treatment at Kajang Hospital.
