Public urged to undergo Covid-19 screening before receiving vaccines

SHAH ALAM, March 7 — The public is encouraged to participate in the Covid-19 community screening organised by the state government while they have yet to be vaccinated.

Selcare Clinic manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said residents still have to continue to undergo testing if they have symptoms and live in locations with high infection rates.

“However, we are worried as some people think it is not necessary to be screened because the vaccine has arrived, whereas the immunisation program is done in stages and takes time.

“This screening process will continue until the vaccination rate among the community reaches 80 per cent,” he told SelangorKini during the Covid-19 targeted community screening programme at Dataran Otomobil in Section 15 here today.

He said the number of participation of around 400 people in the programme in Subang Perdana and Seri Kembangan yesterday should have gone higher if the public does not want to let go of the opportunity to undergo the free testing.

“The initial target was 2,000 participants and we should not be complacent because Covid-19 is still in the community. This screening is a preventive measure in addition to continuing to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he said.
