SHAH ALAM, March 17 — The state government’s job fair, the Jelajah Selangor Bekerja, which is into its second year running, will resume after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season.
State executive councillor for youth and human resource development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the state administration is focused on the event at the district level, but it may depend on the current situation of the movement control order (MCO) as well as the permission granted for the event.
“If the National Security Council (NSC) announces that district-crossing is not allowed, then we will focus on having the event in Shah Alam only.
“The programme is highly anticipated because it offers employment opportunities in various fields and academic qualifications,” Mohd Khairuddin told SelangorKini today.
The state-led programme had managed to amass more than 10,000 applications last year since registration was open in September.
A total of 105 employers had participated in the programme in Kuala Selangor, Gombak, Sungai Buloh, Hulu Langat and Shah Alam.
Among the jobs offered include lecturer, Quran tutor, accountant, sales manager, research officer, technician, meter-reading supervisor, call operator, sales assistant and terminal tractor driver.
On December 13 last year, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a total of 15,000 job opportunities would be created this year through various efforts to address the current unemployment issues.
