AMPANG, March 6 — Grassroots leaders will be mobilised starting next week to help the people of Selangor register for the Covid-19 vaccine.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the group will focus on public areas such as markets apart from visiting from house to house as a way to attract people to register.

“In a few days time, we will give a comprehensive briefing. We target the people of Selangor to receive the vaccine by the end of the year.

“However, it depends on the purchase of vaccines which is expected in May. Registration must be done quickly to enable vaccination to be made,” he said when met today.

Earlier, Amirudin and his wife, Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad attended the ‘Jelajah Kita Selangor’ (Kita Selangor Tour) programme at the Ampang parliamentary constituency.

According to him, the Selangor government is currently identifying recipients for the second and third phase of the vaccination as well as suitable locations.

“District officers and the council president are among those listed as second phase recipients because they are involved in looking after the vaccine centre,” he said.

On February 25, Amirudin and the state government excos were among the first 42 individuals to receive the Covid-19 vaccine injection at the Shah Alam Hospital.

Also vaccinated were Deputy Health Minister I Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, State Secretary Dato ‘Nor Azmie Diron and Selangor State Health Department director Dato’ Indera Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman.
