UiTM FC ready for Terengganu FC in Super League opening clash tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, March 5 — UiTM FC are prepared to take on Terengganu FC in their Super League opening match at UiTM Stadium tomorrow and will go all out to garner three points, said UiTM FC head coach, Frank Bernhardt.

“We are ready, we have been training for weeks and there were also test matches to build the confidence of the squad,” he said.

However, Bernhardt said Terengganu FC are a strong team, as they have ample time for training and would be fit.

“UiTM FC were under the movement control order (MCO) and have to conduct online training at home, while Terengganu FC’s training plans went uninterrupted.

“We hope to pick up more points and climb higher this season,” Bernhardt to reporters at the ‘Majlis bacaan Yasin, tahill dan doa selamat of UiTM FC well as the Program UiTM FC Prihatin bersama Jakel Holdings Sdn Bhd’, today.

Bernhardt said UiTM FC have a lot of new players who have adapted well and on their strategy, he said some tactics would be similar and there would be changes as well as a new playing style, to make UiTM FC more agile.

“We have young players from the Under-21 team and foreigners. However, we would be missing our forward Nana Poku, as he is injured and cannot play but the rest of the players are fit and ready,” said Bernhardt.

In this regard, a member of UiTM FC Board of Directors, Dr Mohd Bahrin Othman said UiTM FC is also eyeing the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) licence to play in its league and is expected to acquire it this year.

He said if UiTM FC succeeded in meeting the criteria, they would have obtained two licences this year, AFC and the Malaysian Football League (MFL) required to play in the Super League.

“We hope to play in the AFC Cup if possible. But first, we must obtain the licence,” he said.
