SHAH ALAM, March 19 — The phase two expansion of the Westports Terminal will bring a positive impact on the Selangor economy and able to provide employment opportunities, said state executive councillor for infrastructure and public facilities Izham Hashim.

He said the expansion of the terminal is needed to further expand the Port Klang logistics sector.

“This is because the capacity of Westports 1 has reached the maximum level, it is likely to disrupt the smooth logistics activities at the port.

“Once this project (Westports phase 2) is fully completed, it will also provide job opportunities for the people of Selangor, and even for the community outside the state,” he said on Facebook.

He said this after a working visit to the Westports phase 2 construction site last Monday.

Izham said at the meeting, several issues and the latest status was presented, and it will be discussed in a special committee to be set up in the near future.

“The state government have always cooperated and supported all infrastructure projects relevant in assisting the expansion of logistics activities in Selangor,” he said.
