Yawas: More 2,000 application received for special needs support

SHAH ALAM, March 3 — A total of 2,186 special assistance applications for special needs (OKU) child were received by the Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) it was opened for registration on February 15.

Yawas general manager Gan Pei Nei said the application for the Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS) scheme will be closed once its allocation of RM500,000 is fully channelled.

She explained that the applicant must be 18 years old and below, the parents are from Selangor or have lived in the state for at least 10 years.

“Applicants who want to get the assistance also need to have an OKU card or doctor’s confirmation letter,” she said when contacted.

AnIS recipients are eligible to receive payment for therapy class fees, medical machines, wheelchair donations, beds, medicines and supplements depending on needs.

The one-time initiative with a maximum limit of up to RM5,000 for one family can be applied through the website www.anis.yawas.com.

The application process is as follows:

  • Check approval status
  • Benefits channelled to the successful applicants
