Army officer, contractor remanded over bribery

SHAH ALAM, April 2 — An army officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and a contractor have been remanded for seven days in connection with the giving of bribes totalling RM16,000 for repair works at an army camp in Selangor.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nur Faizah Abdul Sani here against the 47-year-old officer and 50-year-old contractor following an application from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

MACC sources said the two were arrested at 4.30pm yesterday at the Selangor MACC office.

They are being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
