Covid-19: 1,739 new cases, eight deaths today — Health DG

KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 — The number of new Covid-19 cases nationwide today was 1,739 with eight deaths recorded, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said in a statement, of this number, 1,731 were local transmissions and eight were imported cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said 1,216 recoveries were recorded bringing the cumulative total of recovered cases to 343,953.

Currently, 183 cases are being treated in the intensive care unit with 81 of them requiring ventilator support, he added.

Dr Noor Hisham said three states recorded the highest new daily cases namely Selangor with 535 cases, followed by Sarawak (443) and Sabah (127).

On the fatalities, he said four were recorded in Selangor, two in Kuala Lumpur and one each in Sabah and Johor and the victims were aged between 57 and 78.

Dr Noor Hisham said eight new clusters were detected — five at workplaces and three in the community.

The workplace clusters are Jalan Kasawari and Jalan Desaria in Selangor; Jalan Bambangan and Jalan Badarudin in Sarawak; as well as Jalan Zainab in Kelantan, while the community clusters are Nanga Kelangas and Abak Bon in Sarawak and Meruntum in Sabah.
