E-kitchen initiative to continue, help people generate income — MB

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SELAYANG, April 12 — The Selangor government has targetted that more business will be taking part in its e-kitchen initiative this year, in line with the digitalisation era.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the programme through the Platform Selangor (Plats 2.0 ) initiative has been running continuously and not only during Ramadan month in a bid to help the people in generating income.

“We will get more shops, restaurants and streets hawkers to conduct their business online. This is the new norm after the pandemic.

“As of now, some 300 businesses have registered. Last year, we saw 14,000 licenced traders signing up, therefore we hope that they would take up this opportunity to market and sell their products,” he said at a press conference during the launch of Plats 2.0, here yesterday.

Amuridin said the e-kitchen programme will be held in collaboration with Grab Express and the Selangor Digital e-Supply Chain (Seldec).

“In the previous year, we had provided the locations, such as at halls, for the traders to run their business. But this time around, the local authorities will be providing it.

“The council will help the sellers to ensure that the products would reach the public,” he said.

The e-kitchen initiative was introduced on April 18 last year in an effort to help small businesses generate income during the fasting month.

The programme has assisted 160 entrepreneurs, with sales totalling RM1.5 million.
