GEORGE TOWN, April 18 — Four parked vehicles including a van were destroyed by fire, believed to be from the burning of garbage closeby at the Halaman Mayang 5, Taman Bukit Gedung housing area in Bayan Baru, near here, early today.
A Penang Fire and Rescue Department’s operations centre spokesman said an emergency call was received at 2.10am and a team then rushed to the scene of the incident.
“When they arrived at the location, the fire was spreading, with one of the vehicles, a Proton Iswara, totally destroyed,” the spokesman said in a statement.
Further investigation into the incident was being conducted, he added.
