PUCHONG, April 4 — The Selangor government has launched its Covid-19 Immunisation Outreach programme (Imunisel) to ensure that no one in the state gets left behind in signing up for the vaccine.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the programme aims to help the senior citizens and Orang Asli communities who are not digital savvy in using smartphone application or facing limited internet access.

“A study by the Statistics Department found that 30 per cent of the population in the state do not know how to use a smartphone.

“These groups usually know how to the gadgets only to make or receive calls as well as WhatsApp messages,” he said during the launch of the programme here today.

Amirudin said those who sign up for the vaccine will receive a QR code that provides the date of the Covid-19 shot.

He said parliament and state assemblymen community centres, council members and community heads will actively help out with the registration process.

As of yesterday, only 7.6 million out of the 26.7 million Malaysian population have registered to receive the Covid-19 vaccine via the MySejahtera app.

On February 23, Amirudin had said that the state government will purchase two to five million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to help speed up the National Covid-19 Immunisation programme.
