Kita Selangor Package: 55 traders trained to go digital

By Amin Ridzuan Ishak

SHAH ALAM, April 9 — A total of 55 traders became the first group to receive the benefits of the Go Digital programme conducted by the Selangor Government to help entrepreneurs face the difficult period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a weekly report on the progress of Kita Selangor Package’s 20 initiatives, the State Economic Planning Unit said the approval for the digitalisation programme of the Selangor’s Micro and Retail e-Suppliers as well as the e-Kitchen involved funding of RM216,000 as of April 5.

“The implementation of this scheme is to provide more opportunities for entrepreneurs to increase their business through digitisation,” according to the report.

The Go Digital initiative aims to make it easier for traders to buy telecommunication equipment in line with the state government’s desire to produce more digital entrepreneurs.

The state government targets 1,000 small-time food and beverage hawkers who do business online to be assisted through the e-Kitchen programme run by Yayasan Hijrah Selangor with a fund of RM10 million.

The Micro and Retail e-Suppliers initiative, which is allocated RM5 million, helps 1,000 small and micro retailers get supplies easier, faster and at cheaper prices through digital platforms.

Apart from that, 486 women entrepreneurs also received assistance from the Niaga Darul Ehsan (NaDi) scheme involving RM1.9 million in funding.

So far, the seven initiatives of the Kita Selangor Package announced by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari have been successfully completed.

All the initiatives amount to a financial impact of RM73.87 million that will benefit target groups affected by the pandemic and the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).
