KPI system on hold, flat rate bonus for civil servants

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, April 7 — The state government had to postpone awarding bonus based on the key performance index (KPI) due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the flat rate method will be used this year to balance the state’s finances by prioritising more important matters.

“Bonus payment according to this (flat rate) method will be implemented until a date deemed appropriate to reuse the KPI system.

“The goal of the KPI is to encourage civil servants to work harder and strive if they want to get more bonuses,” he said at the 2020 Excellent Service Award (APC) ceremony that awarded 126 state civil servants at the Dewan Jubli Perak here.

The recognition included staffs of the State Secretary’s office, treasury and land and minerals office, Selangor Housing and Property Board and the State Sports Council.

On January 29, 2019, Amirudin announced that bonus payment for civil servants will be based on the KPI system. Remuneration of more than two months will be given if a certain grade is reached.
