SHAH ALAM, April 9 — The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) maintains its collection target at RM875 million this year.
However, its chief executive officer Saipolyazan M Yusop said the figure may change depending on the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
“Last year we collected RM913 million, which is an increase compared to RM855 million in 2019.
“God willing, we hope that with the vaccine, any businesses that were affected before will recover and maybe the target figure will change depending on the situation,” he said.
Earlier, he received zakat money from Worldwide Holdings Berhad in Section 13 here, which was also attended by its chief executive officer Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria.
At the event, Worldwide Holdings Berhad distributed RM343,794 in zakat money which will benefit about 30 asnaf fakir (hardcore poor) and asnaf miskin (poor) in Selangor.
