SELAYANG, April, 19 — A total of 19 schools in Selangor will be closed for seven days beginning tomorrow to curb the spread of the Covid-19 infection, says Dato’ Amirudin Shari.
The Menteri Besar said the suggestion was made by the state government to the Health Ministry following the rise in Covid-19 cases in the state involving schools.
“This is a new development that is currently under observation and was discussed during the Selangor Security Council Committee meeting on Sunday (yesterday).
“We found that there are 19 schools (that must be closed) and had suggested it to the ministry,” said Amirudin when met after the Jelajah Kita Selangor Ramadan programme, here today.
Earlier, a notice on the closure of the 19 schools to the Education Ministry (MOE) was circulated on social media.
The closure notice was issued by the Petaling Health District Office (PKD).
The schools involved are as follow:
1. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bukit Jelutong
2. SMK Bandar Sri Damansara 2
3. SMK Damansara Jaya
4. SMK Seksyen 7
5. SMK USJ 23
6. SMK Puchong
7. SMK Puchong Utama 1
8. SMK Seksyen 4 Bandar Kinrara
9. SMK Bandar Puncak Jalil
10. SMK Seksyen 20
11. SMK Puchong Perdana
12. Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Puchong Perdana
13. SK Bandar Baru Sri Damansara 2
14. SK Bukit Kuchai
15. SK Bandar Sri Damansara 3
16. SK Bukit Jelutong
17. SK USJ 20
18. Sekolah Agama Menengah Bestari Subang
19. Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Yuk Chai
Yesterday, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba had said that the decision on the closure of schools is made based on the joint assessment by the PKD, MOE and the state government.
He said it includes assessments on cases that involve school staff and students who have to undergo quarantine or Home Surveillance Order after they tested positive for Covid-19.
