SHAH ALAM, April 16 — Selangor is ready to be an important component in realising the target of 80 per cent usage of cloud storage usage in the public sector by next year, in line with the federal government’s MyDigital plan.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said several innovations in the system have already been developed and implemented in the state through the Smart Digital Infrastructure (SDI) initiative operated by the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU).

“The implementation of SDI indicates Selangor’s readiness for digital innovation in the public sector. In fact, this need (digital innovation) is favoured by the federal government as a key component in fulfilling the plan.”

“I am confident that we (the Selangor government) are getting closer to achieving the desired aspirations by providing more smart services for the government and smart applications that the people will enjoy in the future,” he said to media after launching the SDI initiative at the Wisma Ehsan multipurpose Hall here today.

Also present were SSDU managing director Dr Fahmi Ngah, Telekom Malaysia Bhd group chief executive officer Imri Mokhtar and Amazon Web Services Asean Cloud Sector managing director Tan Lee Chew.

SSDU, which is the main body in implementing the Smart Selangor programme is working with Telekom Malaysia Bhd and global cloud computing tech provider Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the initiative.

Amirudin added that the integration of SDI in government operations would not only speed up the system for service delivery to the people but also create more technology development cooperation between SSDU with local and international giants.

“Congratulations to SSDU for successfully developing several digital infrastructures and thank you to its technology partners TM, AWS and NetApp for supporting this development.

“The state government is looking forward to more digital innovations with you,” he said.
