Selangor KPDNHEP: 156 premises inspected, no price control complaints

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, April 22 — The Selangor Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KDPNHEP) has inspected 156 premises to ensure the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) is adhered to.

Its director Muhamad Zikril Azan Abdullah said that no complaints from consumers were lodged so far and that the traders had complied with the price scheme in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which was enforced beginning yesterday.

“The inspection was conducted on wholesalers and retailers. We did not receive any complaints on the first day the price scheme was implemented,” he said in a statement today.

Muhamad Zikril had advised traders to continue to adhere to the ceiling price and had warned them not to take advantage to raise prices as there would be hefty penalties.

He said traders have to be ethical in conducting their businesses while consumers should be responsible and not buy excessively.

“Manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers are also advised not to drastically raise prices after the scheme ends,” he added.

The ceiling price scheme was implemented beginning yesterday until May 20 to curb the price increase of essential goods during Ramadan and the Hari Raya festive season.

Some of the 12 items included under the price scheme are chicken, chicken eggs, meat and fish.
