Selangor Maqis seizes margarine product from Ireland

SHAH ALAM, April 7 — The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (Maqis) Department Department seized 7,824 kilogrammes of margarine dairy product from Ireland, valued at RM116,211, because the document on its import permit was confusing.

Selangor Maqis director Zamri Hisham said the consignment was seized during a routine inspection at 10am last Monday.

He said the consignment was seized as it was found to have breached Section 13 of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011 for submitting a permit that is false, inaccurate or confusing.

Offenders can be fined a maximum of RM50,000 or imprisonment for up to two years or both, upon conviction, he added.
