SHAH ALAM, April 30 — The Ramadan bazaars in Subang Jaya and Pandan Indah are among the 22 bazaars ordered to close operations for three days starting tomorrow.
According to a letter by the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT), the directive followed the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic in six states and the Federal Territory.
“As of April 15, 904 Covid-19 positive cases were recorded from people who had visited the Ramadan bazaars or those who were infected by individuals who had visited the bazaars.
“The ministry had received a report from Hide (Hotspot Identification by Dynamic Engagement), Bank Negara, which detected the risk of Covid-19 spread at the Ramadan bazaars.
“The risk of the spread of infection (at these 22 bazaars) was identified following contact tracing analysis conducted by the Health Ministry via MySejahtera,” according to the letter dated April 30.
It said during the closure, sanitisation work will be carried out at the bazaars and its standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be streamlined.
The ministry said out of the 1,073 Ramadan bazaars operating nationwide, only 22 ordered to close.
