UiTM leaps in Times Higher Education impact rankings

SHAH ALAM, April 22 — Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has successfully joined other world’s top universities in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings released yesterday.

In a statement today, UiTM deputy vice-chancellor (Academic & International) Prof Dr Roziah Mohd Janor said soaring from last year’s band 401-600, UiTM has succeeded in placing itself in the 101-200 band with two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the top 50, namely SDG 5 (ranked 42, previously 74) and SDG 17 (ranked 48, last year at 601+).

“Two more SDGs are now ranked in the top 100; SDG 1 (ranked 54, formerly band 101-200) and SDG 4 (ranked 95, previously band 101-200),” she said.

Roziah is currently assuming the office of vice-chancellor of the university.

A total of 1,115 universities worldwide took part in this third edition of THE Impact Rankings.

Roziah said this year marks UiTM’s second year of participation, and it has indeed made an impressive presence by being listed as top four among 19 ranked universities in Malaysia.

“This success is owed much to the former vice-chancellor, Emeritus Professor Datuk Ir Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim, who was instrumental in pursuing and positioning UiTM in various ranking initiatives,” she added.
