Cops probing Tajuddin for not wearing face mask at press conference

KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — Police are investigating Prasarana chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for not wearing a face mask during a press conference yesterday after inspecting the scene of an LRT accident near the KLCC station here.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said all parties involved in this case would be called to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for questioning soon.

“Police are investigating the incident under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations 2021,” he said in a statement today.

He said the investigation paper would be handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office once the probe was completed.

Mohamad Zainal said police opened the investigation after videos of Tajuddin wearing a face shield but not a face mask at the press conference had gone viral on social media.

He reminded the public to comply with the standard operating procedures issued by the National Security Council to curb the spread of Covid-19, saying action can be taken against violators.

Tajuddin held the press conference at the KLCC station after inspecting the scene where two trains collided on Monday night, leaving 213 people injured.
