SHAH ALAM, May 20 — Selangor will carry on with its free Covid-19 community screening in the 44 remaining state constituencies in its bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Its Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said to date, the screening programme has been conducted in 12 state constituencies.

“Previously, we had only focused in Covid-19 hotspot areas that were traced by the Selangor State Health Depart and the SELangkah app.

“But when we initiated the programme in each of the constituencies, we received positive feedback and more people have come forward to get themselves tested, such as in Gombak Setia today (yesterday), which saw over 2,000 participants,” he said during a press conference, here yesterday.

Amirudin added public participation shows the collective effort of the community to contain the spread of the outbreak.

The Selangor government is conducting active monitoring of the Covid-19 situation by initiating free screenings across the 56 state constituencies beginning May 8 until June 10.

The screening operations have been carried out in Kajang, Semenyih, Sungai Ramal, Balakong, Teratai, Dusun Tua, Lembah Jaya, Pandan Indah, Bukit Antarabangsa and Hulu Kelang, Sungai Tua, and Gombak Setia.

The testing programme utilises the antigen rapid test kit (RTK-Ag), in which the results can be obtained within 30 minutes.
