Government offices fully operational during MCO

PUTRAJAYA, May 11 — Government offices will remain fully operational throughout the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) nationwide, from tomorrow until June 7, to ensure that the government service delivery system is not affected, said Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.

Mohd Zuki said that the heads of departments must ensure that government offices remain fully operational, based on the guidelines set, such as the circular letter issued by the director-general of the Public Service Department dated Jan 12, 2021.

“Heads of Departments must use prudence and wisdom in planning human resource needs to ensure staff attendance to the office can be minimised through the rotation system and must issue internal instructions detailing priorities according to their respective departmental sectors,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook account today.

Mohd Zuki said that officers who did not need to be present to work in the office were instructed to work from home in accordance with the rules and guidelines provided in the Service Circular No 5/2020: Work from Home policy.

“The country’s civil service will continue to be the mainstay to ensure that the government’s administrative machinery remains operational, based on standard operating procedures set to curb the spread of the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
