‘I will attend the NSC meeting tomorrow’ — MB

SHAH ALAM, May 20 — Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has today confirmed that he will be attending the National Security Council (NSC) meeting in Putrajaya tomorrow.

Prior to this, the Selangor Menteri Besar said that he would not be involved in the meeting as the meet to discuss the nationwide movement control order (MCO) was said to have not included the menteris besar and chief ministers despite having to have confirmed his attendance yesterday.

“I have just been informed that the MBs (menteri besars) and CMs (chief ministers) will be invited to the NSC meeting scheduled tomorrow.

“Thank you for the re-inviation and I am committed to attending the meeting to put forward (several) views for the betterment of the Selangor people,” he said on a Twitter post tonight.

Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had said that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will chair the meeting tomorrow, which he said will involve all menteris besar and chief ministers during the 3pm meet.

Yesterday, Amirudin had stressed that the state government welcomes the enforcement of a full-scale MCO in Selangor but the decision has to be made along with a holistic approach, including mental health and loss of income.

He said the lives of the people will always be a priority but a total lockdown should be carried out holistically and would take into account other aspects, such as the marginalised group, and social conditions.
