IRB: More categories under e-Daftar, change individual taxpayer prefix starts May 18

PUTRAJAYA, May 16 — An exercise to allow more categories of taxpayers to register for income tax number through e-Daftar as well as changing the prefix of individual taxpayers (from SG and OG ) to IG will be commencing on May 18.

The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) said the registration of income tax number for taxpayers in the categories of Cooperative Society (CS), Association (F), Trust Body (TA), Unit or Real Property Trust (TC), Business Trust (TN) and Real Estate Investment Trust/Property Trust Fund (TR) could be carried out online via e-Daftar through the link, https://edaftar.hasil.gov.my/ from the date.

As a record, it said e-Daftar at the moment is only limited to taxpayer categories such as SG and OG, Companies (C), Partnership (D), Employer (E) and Limited Liability Partnership (PT).

“From May 18 2021, IRB will also be implementing a new prefix for individual taxpayers from SG and OG now to the prefix IG. The process of setting the new prefix will involve two phases, namely phase one for new individual taxpayers registered through IRB system

“Phase two will involve changing the prefix of existing individual taxpayers in stages from May 18 2021,” it said in a statement here today.

IRB said the changing of prefix would not involve any changes to the taxpayer’s existing individual income tax number and the deadline for submission of Return Forms for individuals is on 30 April each year for individuals who do not carry out business and June 30 each year for individuals who carry on business.

It said the move to enable the additional categories of taxpayers to register under e-Daftar was an initiative under Revenue Transformation as a continuous IRB effort to improve its services for taxpayers.

The setting and changing the prefix SG and OG to IG for individual taxpayers can facilitate the management of taxpayers and avoid confusion among individual taxpayers.

Any queries and feedback related to this matter can be forwarded to IRB through Hasil Care Line at 03-8911 1000/603-8911 1100 (overseas), HASiL Live Chat and the feedback form on the IRB’s official portal at the quick link https: // maklumbalaspelanggan.hasil.gov.my/MaklumBalas/ms-my/.
