LZS receives RM7.65 mln in business tithe from 24 companies

SHAH ALAM, May 6 — The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) received business tithe (zakat) contributions totalling RM7.65 million from 24 corporate companies yesterday.

Koperasi Sahabat Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia Berhad topped the list with RM2.77 million, followed by Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad with RM2.5 million.

Meanwhile, Maybank Islamic Bank Berhad issued zakat of RM453,959, CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad (RM300,000) and Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (RM289,813).

LZS in a statement on Facebook said it also presented zakat assistance amounting to RM424,007 to asnaf students and two organisations.

“The National Cancer Council and the Rare Diseases Association of Malaysia each received RM200,000 in grant assistance for treatment and medical costs.

“Meanwhile, two asnaf students, namely Hasbe Zuliyana Hasbe Zuzaini, received higher education scholarships amounting to RM14,000 and RM10,007 to Asma`Abdul Muthalib,” said the agency.

The ceremony that took place at a hotel here was attended by Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof and LZS chief executive officer Saipolyazan M Yusop.
