MB: Decision to continue community screening to be discussed on Monday

KLANG, May 29 — The decision on whether to continue the state’s free Covid-19 community screening programme during the total lockdown will be discussed by the latest on Monday.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the matter would be decided in a meeting with the National Security Council (NSC).

“I have to discuss with NSC to view the procedures (screening programme). If there are no obstacles and constraints, we could implement (it).

“However, screening programme in several locations set before June 1 still continues,” he said after inspecting the free community screening at the Teluk Pulai Multipurpose Hall here today.

Yesterday, the government announced a total lockdown on the social and economic sectors (first phase) nationwide for 14 days beginning June 1 to 14.

The Prime Minister’s Office, in a statement, said throughout this period, all sectors will not be allowed to operate, except for essential economic and service sectors to be listed by NSC.

The Selangor government is actively conducting the Covid-19 surveillance programme through free community screening in all 56 state constituencies from May 8 to June 10.

The programme under the Covid-19 Pandemic Outbreak Mitigation Phase benefits the people of this state who are at risk, have been in close contact, are symptomatic and worried about their health status.
