AMPANG, May 18 — The free Covid-19 screening programme held in the Gombak district, which begins from today until Friday, has received over 3,000 registrations.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said some 1,100 individuals have signed up via the SELangkah application for the initiative held at Dewan Dato’ Ahmad Razali, here today.

“The figure only includes those who have preregistered via SELangkah and we are expecting more will be coming in via walk-in.

“I was also informed that the number (of participants) at the screening held in Hulu Kelang (at Dewan Serbaguna MPAJ AU2) is twice the figure compared to the one here. This shows that there is high awareness within the community to get themselves tested,” he said when met after visiting the testing operation at Dewan Dato’ Ahmad Razali in Ampang Jaya before heading to Dewan Serbaguna MPAJ AU2 in Hulu Kelang.

Amirudin said through the screening operations, the number of infections in the state would reflect the current situation and those who were found positive for Covid-19 can be isolated at the quarantine centres.

The Selangor government has allocated a total of RM6 million to hold the community screening initiative across the state.

The testing programme utilises the antigen rapid test kit (RTK-Ag), in which the results can be obtained within 30 minutes.
