SELangkah denies booking AstraZeneca vaccinations slot

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, May 29 — The SELangkah (Step In, Safely) management has refuted claims of its involvement in the recent AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in programme chaotic mess.

Its chief executive officer Tengku Iesta Tengku Alaudin strongly rejected the allegations by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) that it had made bookings without the applicant’s permission and described the allegations as totally baseless.

He also stressed that SELangkah would not hesitate to initiate legal action against anyone who spread false allegations to tarnish its reputation.

“Selangkah would like to stress we had no involvement with the booking of the AstraZeneca vaccine slots as alleged.

“We were also not contacted by CITF on this matter as claimed,” said Tengku Iesta in a statement last night.

In a statement yesterday, CITF said it had identified the cause of some individuals receiving appointment dates for the AstraZeneca vaccine even though they did not make any bookings.

CITF accused SELangkah of making mass bookings reservations for individuals in the ImuniSEL database without checking whether they will agree to receive the vaccine and to replace their original appointments with AstraZeneca, if any.

CITF also claimed that SELangkah has given its assurance to cooperate with them to resolve the issue and ensure that the affected individuals will revert to their original appointments.

On Tuesday, technical glitches during the AstraZeneca opt-in registrations had triggered wide backlash when many Malaysians failed to submit their vaccination applications on the AstraZeneca opt-in website.
