By Khairul Azran Hussin

SABAK BERNAM, May 8 — A total of 79 individuals, including six women, received their letters of appointment as chairman of the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) in the Sabak Bernam district.

Their appointment letters were presented by the state executive councillor for rural development Borhan Aman Shah during a ceremony at Dewan Seri Sekinchan here yesterday.

Borhan said the MPKK chairman, who is also the village head, had to go through a rigorous evaluation process including interviews before being selected to take on the role.

“I have outlined the important things (needed) as the chairman of MPKK, which is to always dress nicely, possess public speaking skills and be able to administer well,” he said at the event.

Borhan said he is willing to make a proposal to the Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari to increase the monthly allowance of the MPKK chairman from RM1,200 to RM1,500 if the village heads perform their duties well.

“The state government has the ability to increase the MPKK chairman’s allowance, (in fact) we even provided a group insurance scheme.

“Also in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, RM1,000 was given to the community leaders in the state through a Special Financial Aid initiative,” he said.

Earlier, Borhan presented an RM235,000 aid contributed by the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to five mosques in the Sabak Bernam district.
