Selangor Asean Business Conference 2021 kicks off its live webinar series

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — The Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC) 2021 kicked off its live webinar series on “Creating and Nurturing Industrial Revolution 4.0 Champions” today.

Invest Selangor Bhd said this year, the speakers would provide their opinions and expert advice on key issues affecting Asean member countries in a post-Covid-19 pandemic economic scenario, and how to sustain growth through innovation.

In a statement, the state government agency said the Covid-19 pandemic was a testing time when “survival of the fittest” became a new norm and only the innovative ones would survive the overwhelming crisis.

“The new normal calls for innovation not only for survival but to continuously grow and be able to sustain the imminent Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). The series of webinars and one-day conference is created with sustainable growth in mind, and Asean as the marketplace,” it said.

Themed “Sustaining Growth within Asean through Innovation”, this year’s SABC will be conducted online via a webinar series and a full-day hybrid conference.

There will be three webinar series — the first series today, the second in August and the final one in November.

The first series features prominent speakers such as Petra Group chairman and chief executive Datuk Dr Vinod Sekhar, Institution of Engineer Indonesia (PII) president Heru Dewanto, and PT Awina Sinergi International (Indonesia) business advisor Dr Ichsan Ichsan discussing how the Covid-19 pandemic has led to organisations’ digital transformation.

“Businesses that are more receptive to the IR4.0 will have greater resiliency and ability to speed up their recovery in the face of adversity,” Invest Selangor said.

The next webinar in July will touch on the pros and cons of managing dispersed workforces and discuss the future workforces and workplaces as well as the business continuity plan in the new normal and in the event of any catastrophe such as a pandemic.

Meanwhile, the third webinar will focus purely on issues affecting small and medium enterprises. This series will discuss about “Staying Local and Going Global”, focusing on the strategies to expand businesses globally with minimum capital and resources.
