Selangor sets up humanitarian fund to help Palestinian people

SHAH ALAM, May 20 — The Selangor government has yesterday launched the Selangor Prihatin Humanitarian Fund in an effort to help the Palestinian people who are being oppressed by the Zionist regime.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the 10-day campaign beginning May 19 aims to raise up to RM1 million in funds to be channelled to the Palestinians through the Selangor Peduli Palestine Mission.

“In a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people, the Selangor government has set up the Selangor Prihatin Humanitarian Fund.

“The campaign is in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation via the e-government system, aside from the funds channelled from people’s representatives, the state government subsidiaries, as well as private and individual contributions,” said Amirudin at a press conference yesterday, adding that the Selangor State Executive Council had also approved the funds to be channelled through the Global Peace Mission Malaysia.

He said the assistance to the Palestinians will be provided in the form of ambulances and multi-purpose vehicles equipped with medicines.

“Those who contribute will be offered tax exemption,” Amirudin added.
